The loquat grows on a bush, is smaller than the kumquat, and some like it better. The guava is the shape and size of a Northern sugar pear. The skin is yellow, the pulp a beautiful pink. It has much acid, is delicious and requires much sugar. It is made into preserves, is eaten like peaches, and is sometimes organized into a fine 'shortcake. Mulberries grow on a tree and are sweet and delightful, thousands hang on one tree. Limes look like a lemon but have a somewhat different taste. The Japan persimmons are liked by some and make good beer. They can be grown from slips cut from the old trees and wll3 bear the first year. The sweet lemon that has grown wild has become scarce.
